We have a few part-time professional musicians, but most of our members would be best described as dedicated amateurs who enjoy playing good music. We play at an intermediate band level. If this describes you, please consider joining us for an evening to acquaint yourself with our group. Where does the band rehearse? During the school year, we meet in the music room of Earl Marriott Secondary at 15751 – 16 Avenue in South Surrey. Rehearsals take place Thursday evenings from 7:30 pm - 9:45 pm. Please arrive 15 minutes early in order to be warmed up and ready to play for 7:30 pm. We have a 10 minute coffee break at approximately 8:30 pm. At most times, we have a need for many instruments to compliment our existing sound. If you'd like to come check us out please contact us at [email protected]. What do members provide? As a member of the South Fraser Community Band, you are asked to participate in ensuring that the groups livelihood and reputation are protected. This means: Paying annual membership dues of $250.00. Can also be paid quarterly. These dues are required to cover operational and equipment costs, such as rent, fees, music stands, etc. Participating in fundraising events for money, over and above membership dues, is required to buy music, uniforms, travel expense and other related items. Fundraising events include concerts, raffles, etc. New ideas are always welcome! Attending rehearsals on a regular basis. If you have to be away, please inform the conductor or your section leader. Concert attendance is especially important - the group depends on you. If you have any suggestions or ideas on how to make our group more successful and happy, feel free to speak to anyone on the executive. What does SFCB provide?
