About Us

Meet our Members, our Director, and our Executive Members!

Our History

The South Fraser Community Band (SFCB) has been providing music throughout the lower mainland since 1989. We were originally founded by Koert and Gerritt Arink as the Surrey Community Concert Band in 1989.   In 1990 we changed our name to the South Fraser Community Band.

Our Members

Our current membership consists of approximately 25 people. We represent a broad spectrum of backgrounds including nurses, school teachers, scientists, engineers, housewives, students and senior citizens. Members have a wide range of musical ability, some boast an extensive musical background, many have picked up their instrument after several decades absence, and some have joined SFCB while learning a new instrument.
