Musical Director
South Fraser Community Band is looking for a new Music Director
The South Fraser Community Band (SFCB) is searching for a new Music Director starting in September 2026. The Band currently has about 35 musicians representing a broad spectrum of backgrounds from students and working professionals to retirees. Our musicians have a range of musical ability from extensive musical backgrounds on multiple instruments through to some who have reconnected with their instruments after several decades. We perform a Level 3–4 concert band repertoire. The Band rehearses every Thursday evening from mid-September to early June (except for school closure dates) at Earl Marriott Secondary School in South Surrey. We usually perform about 7 concerts each year, including the Ladner Bandfest. We are looking for an engaging Music Director who can respectfully inspire our musicians and engage with our audiences. Our musicians all work hard on their instrument to improve their technical skills and to learn their music between rehearsals. Our audiences, which are often in Seniors Residences, are looking for interesting performance which includes some music that they are familiar with and connects with them. If you or somebody you know is interested in leading the SFCB Band, please connect with the search committee.Send a brief introduction, your musical/conducting experience, and (if available) a sample video of your conducting to. [email protected]
We look forward to meeting someone who shares our love of music and community!
